For me, words are a form of action, capable of influencing change. -Ingrid Bengis, writer and teacher (1944- )
SFWP.org publishes fiction, creative nonfiction, and book reviews from established and up-and-coming writers, with special attention paid to promoting strong literary voices.
While our online arcadia doesn’t afford us the income to compensate authors for accepted pieces, we provide other perks: we carefully read every submission, publish the very best material we receive, and promote and present work promptly on an established literary site that is viewed by thousands of readers.
Fiction and book review writers: send up to 5,000 words. If you have a smashing short-short, send it. If you have a longer piece, query us first, please. All writing may be on any subject, any style, so long as it is not blatantly offensive and so long as it isn’t genre fiction (mystery, fantasy, westerns).
When you submit your piece for consideration, you should:
- Let us know if the piece has been published elsewhere, including online (previously published work is OK — just let us know, please).
- Include a short author biography (50-75 words), including publishing credits.
- Paste your submission into the body of an e-mail. No attachments will be opened.
- Please, send only one submission email per four month period; kindly do not submit a second time before hearing from us! Keep in mind that if you have been previously published by SFWP.org, we may not select any of your work again for some time. Please respect our wishes to promote a wide variety of writers by waiting before sending again. Contact us if you have questions.
- Send your submissions via email to Cate McGowan at sfwritersproject at gmail dot com
Thanks and here’s to some great writing!
